A hotter world will be a more violent world !

The crises we are facing call for urgent action, particularly the environmental crisis, whose effects are powerful and multi-faceted. One of the impacts that is all too often overlooked concerns the serious consequences of extreme weather conditions on populations in the most exposed geographical areas. Indeed, disasters, droughts, mega-fires and floods will provoke unprecedented migratory movements, violence and profound suffering due to increased poverty, lack of housing and food insecurity.

How can we prepare for it ? How can the economy, which impacts every aspect of our lives, mobilize the resources needed to ensure a desirable future for all, and provide welcome and support for the most disadvantaged, the most vulnerable and the most precarious?

A unique place in Europe, an integral part of Grenoble Ecole de Management, the 1st business school with a mission, bringing together teachers, researchers, managers and executives, our Chair develops a different approach to economic thinking based on confrontation and domination. Business performance and growth are based on cooperation; better living together is paramount; the economy is at the service of society.

Economic Peace is a commitment to peace and the preservation of the living world. It is the essential alternative to a business model based on hyper-competition, exacerbated individualism and the single-minded pursuit of profit.

It gives companies the mission of contributing to the common good by strengthening the social fabric. It puts performance and profit in their rightful place, as a means to an end, not an end in itself.

"If human beings ever came together to pool their workforce, it was first and foremost to strive for a better life together, and to enable them to take care of each other even in an environment of tension or competition. In our vision, the wealth created is not an end in itself. It is a means to an end, for the benefit of today's and tomorrow's society. »

Dominique Steiler, Chairholder
